The spirit of Aquarius, ruminating These familiar thoughts, was stopped short by the radical new that during all these decades some instinct of American life had worked to keep the innocent country, to keep uncouth, crude as a clown, be ready to actually govern the universe without claim to a culture nice, because then, like a virgin ore, carefully protected at the bottom of the back country of the national soul, one idea could still electrify the country. Culture was an insulator against a single idea, and America was like u lanky lover who advanced with a shuffled middle age, still searching for his mission.
